Bitcoin Miners Affected by Supply Chain Crisis!

2021 was a year in which many crises broke out for technology companies. Problems in chip production and supply chain affected many industries, including phones, computers, automobiles and household appliances.

While it is feared that the effect of this disruption in production and supply chain will spread to the coming years, it was stated that crypto money miners may also be affected by this crisis.

US Bitcoin mining firms are struggling with the effects of the global supply chain crisis. It is stated that there are some delays in the delivery of mining equipment ordered from China.

As a reflection of these outages, major mining companies such as Nasdaq-listed Riot Blockchain, Bitfarms and Marathon Digital in the US have been experiencing disruptions in their production updates for the past two months.

Riot Blockchain announced in early October that it has 25,646 miners. It was expected that 6,000 devices would be added to the fleet in October, but only 1,624 was increased.

We see that similar disruptions are experienced in Bitfarms and Marathon Digital companies.

Riot said the effects of supply chain disruptions due to the chip crisis were not significant so far and that they are fighting to mitigate the problem as much as possible.

Marathon Digital said in a statement Tuesday:

“We also started chartering aircraft in October to speed up the delivery of our miners and reduce the negative impact of global logistics problems on our growth. By chartering aircraft, we reduced the average time it takes to dispatch and deliver miners by approximately 50%. Provided it remains economically viable to do so, we intend to continue charter flights to ensure timely delivery of our miners.”
