BBVA Uses Ripple’s Acquired Platform for Cryptocurrencies

The Swiss arm of banking giant BBVA started working with Metaco, which was acquired by Ripple.

According to the statement made by BBVA Switzerland, the bank started to use the Harmonize platform developed by Metaco for the custody service it provides for cryptocurrencies.

The organization, which has been providing Bitcoin and Ethereum custody services for its corporate customers since 2021, has switched to Harmonize infrastructure to increase its security.

Thanks to the Harmonize platform, BBVA Switzerland will be able to switch to blockchains other than Bitcoin and Ethereum. In the press release, “Transacting on Harmonize paves the way for BBVA to offer new services in the future, including trading crypto assets other than Bitcoin and Ethereum or tokenizing traditional assets.” It was said.

Metaco, acquired by Ripple, launched the Harmonize platform in 2021. Recently, another banking giant, HSBC, started working with Metaco for its cryptocurrency custody service.
