YouTube “Skip Forward” feature is coming! So what will it do?

YouTube has now started to offer the “Skip Forward” feature, which it started testing in March, to a wider user base. This new artificial intelligence-supported feature allows Premium subscribers to try new experimental features. Here are the details of the new feature…

The new “Skip Forward” button appears after double-tapping to skip forward in a video. This button lets you jump directly to where most viewers usually skip. The button appears in the bottom right corner of the screen for a second or two and disappears if you just want to skip forward 10 seconds.

When you tap the button, a text appears saying “You are skipping the usually skipped section” and this feature is marked with the YouTube Premium badge. YouTube uses AI and tracking data to make this feature “next best spot” designed to determine.

YouTube protects the user experience with new measures against ad-blocking applications.

Initially, the feature was called a “very small experiment” by YouTube, and some users automatically signed up for it. This feature is now available to a wider audience via the youtube.com/new trial page. However, for now, this feature is only visible through the mobile client. To check whether the feature is available to you, you can check the “Settings > Try new experimental features” section.

This feature is currently only available on the YouTube Android app in the US and on English videos. Also, it is not available in every video and the common factor is that they are usually videos with a large number of views. You need to be a YouTube Premium member to activate this experiment today, and it is scheduled to end on June 1, but may be extended.

Do you think this feature makes the video watching experience easier? You can write your opinions in the comments section below.
