April 2024 PS Plus Premium classics leaked early

One of April’s PS Plus Premium classics has been leaked. A PlayStation Store tracking page has discovered references to Star Wars: Rebel Assault II: The Hidden Empire, which was originally released on PS1 in 1996.

According to listings revealed by PS Deals, Star Wars: Rebel Assault II: The Hidden Empire will be available on Tuesday, April 16 for both PS4 and PS5. This will be the date when the full PS Plus Extra and Premium games of the month are announced.

Star Wars: Rebel Assault II: The Hidden Empire was developed by LucasArts. The PS1 version was developed by Factor 5, which closed its doors in 2009 after 22 years of operation. Factor 5’s final game was Lair, which coincidentally was a PS3 exclusive. Factor 5 faced a number of game cancellations before its closure, several of which were in development for PS3 only. In 2016, a prototype for the canceled multiplatform Superman game was also revealed.

Star Wars: Rebel Assault II: The Hidden Empire was a commercial success despite mixed reviews. The game attracted attention with its playability and commitment to the Star Wars universe and gained a large fan base. Therefore, it is a good development that this classic game will be available for PS Plus members in April 2024.
