Approve New Participants feature has arrived for WhatsApp

Communicating on WhatsApp allows up to 1024 people to be created at the same time, thanks to groups. However, the fact that so many people join groups at the same time also raises security problems. According to the blog post shared by WABetaInfo today, WhatsApp is working on the Confirm New Participants feature for groups. So, what will this feature do and what are the details? Let’s take a look at the details of the news together.

Approve New Participants feature for WhatsApp groups to improve security

According to the blog post shared by WABetaInfo today, WhatsApp is working on the Confirm New Participants feature. With this feature, when a new member comes to the WhatsApp group, administrators will approve them. The new member will only join the group if approved by the admin.

This new feature can be turned on or off according to preference. In other words, the innovation will change depending on the preferences of the group administrators. The instant communication platform brought this feature for the Invite Connection feature.

Joining groups with the Invite Link feature can pose a security risk. Because the number of group participants reaching 1024 people sometimes causes people who should not be in the group to be in the group.

New group members that haven’t been confirmed yet will be seen as pending participants in the WhatsApp group’s info section. Administrators will easily follow the people who want to enter the group from this section. With the new function, only members requested by the administrators will join WhatsApp groups.

WhatsApp thinks that groups will be safer with this feature. WhatsApp Confirm New Participants is currently available in WhatsApp 23.3.77 update for iOS. It is gradually opened to all users.

The platform also removes unknown numbers from groups. Instead of the unregistered numbers in the WhatsApp groups, the name of the owner of the account registered to the platform will be displayed. Thus, it will be clearer who the people in the groups are.
