Over the past years, we have seen some Netflix executives advocate and openly support LGBTQ rights. In fact, Tesla and SpaceX CEO and the richest man in the world, Elon Musk, even said that he took the business beyond supporting and turned it into imposition, by tweeting many tweets where he criticized Netflix for this issue. Now, Apple has come to the fore with the claim that it is lobbying for LGBTQ.

Apple lobbying for LGBTQ in states like Iowa, Texas and Florida

Apple CEO Tim Cook became the first and only openly gay CEO on the Fortune 500 list after he said in a statement in 2014, “I am proud to be gay and consider being gay as one of the greatest gifts God has given me.”

After that, Apple became one of the LGBTQ-supportive companies such as Netflix. In fact, by launching some campaigns periodically, it helped to gather more support and provide more information to the public on the subject.

Now, there have been some allegations that he started lobbying activities, which he allocated a large amount of money to oppose bills targeting gay and trans people in at least 6 different states such as Iowa, Texas and Florida.

In fact, company executives said that instead of denying this situation, they were looking for allies from other large companies to support their views. He stated that this step was especially aimed at opposing laws that limit the protection of trans and gay people or their families.

Making a statement on the subject, Jay Brown, Senior Vice President of Programs, Research and Education of the LGBTQ rights organization Human Rights Campaign, said:

It’s not just states that have a headquarters. Their customers are in states, all over the country. Important in terms of staff time and resources.
