Apple announces billion-euro investment in Munich

san francisco Apple wants to significantly expand its European center for chip design in Munich. The group announced on Thursday that one billion euros will be invested in the site over the next six years. “Our engineering teams in Munich are among the world’s most innovative and help to develop new technologies,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook in a statement.

The new investment expands the billion-euro investment in Munich announced in 2021. The Bavarian state capital is the largest research location for Apple in Europe. The iPhone manufacturer intends to expand its new research and development facility in the center of Munich on Karlstrasse by adding three more locations in the immediate vicinity.

The city plays an important role in Apple’s global strategy. Because CEO Cook wants the group to master all the key technologies that are required for products such as the iPhone, iPad or Mac computer. But it is precisely when it comes to the important future technology 5G that Apple is dependent on suppliers.
