Stockholm It is not every day that the Swedish top-level pandemic guard, who is often so self-assured, appears almost humble. Anders Tegnell, the official title of “state epidemiologist”, initiated a cautious change of strategy in the country in terms of fighting the pandemic this week.

The high numbers of infections in many countries are “a warning signal” and very worrying. “Because of this, and because we are also seeing a certain increase in the number of infections in Sweden, we want to take some measures,” he said.

For the first time since the outbreak of the pandemic in early 2020, Sweden will introduce a corona passport from December 1. Only those who are double vaccinated can attend events in closed rooms with more than 100 people. This mainly affects sports events, concerts, cinemas and theaters.

Other measures are currently being developed for organizers and operators who do not want to introduce vaccination passport controls. These include distance rules and the limitation of the number of visitors.
