Another lost suitcase was saved thanks to AirTag!

Apple’s AirTag tracking device again played an important role in a family’s tracking of their stolen luggage and catching the thief. Traveling from Miami, Florida to the mountains of North Carolina, the Gavino family noticed that one of their bags was missing after landing at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

Their recently purchased AirTag saved them

Little did the family know that the AirTag tracking devices they had recently purchased would play an important role in finding their stolen luggage.

After realizing her luggage was missing, Catherine Gavino opened the Find My app on her iPhone, which showed the location of the stolen bag as it was traveling west of Gastonia on Interstate 85.

Acting quickly, the family rented a vehicle and began tracking the AirTag’s signal. However, when AirTag stopped providing information, the search had to be stopped. Unfortunately, the contents of the luggage had to be repurchased, including clothing purchased specifically for the trip.

Undaunted, the Gavino family decided to take a new initiative on Christmas day. Using the Find My app, they tracked the AirTag to a home on McGuire Street in Gastonia. Catherine immediately called the police, who entered the house and successfully recovered not only the Gavino family’s stolen luggage, but also the belongings of another airport theft victim.

A suitcase that was supposed to go on a domestic flight but suddenly found itself in Jamaica was fortunately delivered to its owner thanks to Apple AirTag!

Police discovered another person reported a similar incident earlier that day and used an AirTag to track his stolen bag, but it ended up going to the wrong house.

Although the stolen suitcase was recovered, its contents were missing and police suspected the clothes might have been sold. The suspect responsible for the theft was arrested, faces charges related to multiple theft offenses and a drug offense, and his bail was set at $10,000.

In our country, Apple sells AirTag tracking devices individually for 1,119 TL and a set of four for 3,779 TL at a discount. This incident reveals how useful such tracking devices are in critical situations. What are you thinking? Please don’t forget to share your thoughts with us in the comments.
