Thank you, Angela Merkel. Your decision not to run for the Chancellery again gave us a political fresh start in the second dreary corona year. In addition to the corona frustration with the federal election, there was another topic that could be discussed with friends or colleagues.
Especially in my environment – the digital economy – it was noticeable how much people want new beginnings and modernization. The pandemic has made it clear where our state is sick and how much a boost to digitization is needed.
This year, people saw the competence for a departure from two parties: the Greens and the FDP. With Annalena Baerbock and Christian Lindner at the helm, they credibly stood for something new. Coming from two directions, both seemed to be pursuing the same goal: to free the country from the lowest common denominator. A green-yellow lime that refreshes the country with a sparkling touch? That was the hope in the digital economy.
