“Almost obsessed” – Germany is looking for its own way in the conflict between China and the USA

Washington, Berlin Shortly before the G7 summit in Japan, the US is pushing for a unified stance against China. The alliance of the seven industrialized nations must “agree on principles in relations with China,” said a senior US government official before US President Joe Biden left for Japan.

The G7 summit begins on Friday, with the United States conferring with Japan, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and Great Britain in Hiroshima.

According to US media reports, a statement against “economic coercion” is planned for the first time, naming China as an actor that puts trading partners under pressure through coercive measures. The finance and foreign ministers of the G7 had already made similar statements.
