Alfa Romeo Tonale survives chip crisis
As we mentioned earlier, Alfa Romeo has been waiting for a long time to introduce its new model, Tonale. The introduction date of the Tonale was set, but the CEO of the auto giant, Jean-Philippe, requested additional time for the development of the vehicle. When the second launch date was determined, the chip crisis intervened and thus the launch date of Alfa Romeo Tonale was determined as February 8, 2022.
Features of Alfa Romeo’s first electric Tonale
Let’s take a look at the details of the Alfa Romeo Tonale, starting with the engine options, all of which are combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Under the hood of the vehicle lies a 1.5-liter hybrid-assisted gasoline engine. This engine is offered to car lovers with two different power options, 130 and 160 horsepower.
For those who want to have a more powerful driving experience, there is another 1.3-liter engine option with hybrid support. The power produced by this engine is exactly 275 horsepower. Finally, let’s not go without mentioning that the 2.0-liter engine is also among the engine options of Tonale, and this turbo-assisted engine with 9-speed gearbox produces 256 horsepower.
The electric motors of the Alfa Romeo Tonale have 15.5 kW batteries, giving the vehicle a range of approximately 48 kilometers. In addition, these batteries can be fully charged in 2.5 hours thanks to their 7.5 kW charging capacity.
Let’s come to the technological equipment of the new Tonale. Equipped with equipment such as adaptive cruise control and emergency brake, which we now see in many new model vehicles, Tonale also has 2nd level autonomous driving features that can be purchased as an option.
The size of the multimedia screen of the new vehicle, which has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto features, is exactly 10.25 inches. Let’s say that the vehicle also has a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel.

Tonale, which does not break the Alfa Romeo line in design, has 3 different hardware packages: Spirit, Ti and Veloce. The release date of the vehicle, which will start mass production this year, is not yet known.
