Aksaray Municipality Sold 5 Liters of Water for 500 TL

Aksaray Municipality carried out an interesting study to draw attention to the drought after the occupancy rate of its single dams decreased to 16%. The municipality, which opened a counter, sold 5 liters of water for 500 TL and 0.33 ml of water for 100 TL.

The climate crisis continues to exist as one of the biggest problems of our time and the whole world must fight together to solve this problem. While various campaigns and actions continue around the world to raise people’s awareness of the climate crisis, in Aksaray Municipality interesting work has been done.

The municipality, which carried out awareness work to draw attention to the drought experienced in recent years, opened a counter and started selling water. But the prices of these standard sizes of water surprised everyone who saw it. 0.33 ml of water from 100 TL, 1.5 liters of water from 250 TL and 5 liters of water from 500 TL sold. While some citizens were trying to understand what had happened, others paid for the water to support awareness.

The occupancy rate in Aksaray’s only dam dropped to 16%

Aksaray Municipality carried out this work after the water level of the Mamasin Dam dropped significantly. The water level of the dam, which is the only dam used by Aksaray for drinking and agricultural irrigation needs and has a capacity of 165 million cubic meters, 26 million cubic meters withdrawn.

Municipality staff Muharrem Selçuk said in his statement that the purpose of their work to raise awareness to use water sparingly, not to waste it, to turn off the water if necessary stated that. Selcuk, who said that he distributed water to the citizens as a representative of today’s memory, expressed that they hope that the citizens will understand the value of water when they see these waters.
