Reddit Challenges the NFT World

Reddit has been taking on different NFT initiatives for some time now. The social media platform has also created a dedicated page for NFT-related events, which is nft.reddit.com.

Currently, the NFT space focuses solely on CryptoSnoos, which includes Reddit’s own digital collections. “Snoo” basically represents Reddit’s own Aliem mascot, and the collectibles are nothing more than variations of Snoo’s images.

However, developer Nima Owji was the first to notice this new NFT test. The developer found a banner referencing the project on his Reddit app. Owji thinks this image may represent Reddit’s expansion beyond CryptoSnoos.

Developer Owji also found references in Reddit’s code, which appears to be a test collection of NFTs on OpenSea. The Ethereum testnet, a platform that supports running blockchain experiments, was spotted on Rinkeby.

But some Redditors aren’t happy with Reddit’s switch to NFTs. These players also expressed their dissatisfaction on the Reddit forums.
