Dusseldorf Even Germany, as a country with plenty of water, is feeling in the course of climate change how scarce what is probably the world’s most important resource is becoming. While it’s still raining heavily in the west and the springs are bubbling, the east is suffering from the drought.
And yet Germany is still in a comparatively comfortable situation – at least it’s bubbling up somewhere. Other regions in Africa or Asia are faring much worse. The conflicts over the coveted resource are increasing there.
In Africa, not only are the deserts spreading, the quality of the water is also poor. Most of the people there do not have access to clean drinking water.
Water is actually plentiful in Germany. But here, too, sources are drying up, and it is becoming more and more difficult for the suppliers to provide the most important food in the highest quality.
