Roofing, concrete, and carpentry work: Construction prices are rising at a slightly slower rate

Wiesbaden Building in Germany remains expensive. However, the price increase slowed somewhat in August. The prices for the new construction of conventionally manufactured residential buildings increased by 16.5 percent compared to the same month last year, as the Federal Statistical Office announced on Thursday in Wiesbaden. In the previous reporting month of May, the increase within one year was 17.6 percent.

Reasons for the increased costs are scarce and expensive materials as well as high demand.

The price increase was particularly strong for these works:

  • Roofing and roof sealing work (plus 19.6 percent)
  • carpentry work (plus 19.6 percent),
  • Concrete work (plus 18.2 percent).

Carpentry and timber construction work rose below average (plus 2.3 percent) after a sharp increase in August 2021. The information relates to construction work on the building including VAT.
