750 satellite communication terminals from Türksat to the earthquake zone! SDN

On February 6, two earthquakes with a magnitude of 7.7 and 7.6 occurred in Turkey’s Southeastern Anatolia region – in more than 10 provinces – causing great destruction. After the destruction caused by the earthquake, the search and rescue activity in which dozens of countries participated was started. Türksat, on the other hand, is sending a large number of satellite communication terminals to the region.

750 satellite communication terminals and 500 Wi-Fi access devices from Türksat to the earthquake zone!

On the first day of the earthquake, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk offered to send Starlink satellite terminals to the region, although their entry into Turkey has not yet been approved. But this offer was not accepted. Because Türksat announced that their capacity is sufficient.

As a matter of fact, the shipments made yesterday and today seem to confirm this. It was said that there are currently 250 satellite communication terminals in the region and 500 more will be sent. It is also stated that 500 Wi-Fi access devices are on the way.

In the statement made by Turksat, it was said:

“250 satellite communication terminals were sent to the earthquake zone by Türksat A.Ş to be used in search and rescue activities and to meet the communication needs in the region; Our teams started installations in our Hatay and Kahramanmaraş provinces under the coordination of AFAD. Today, 500 satellite communication terminals and 500 Wi-Fi access devices have been shipped to the region.”
