zkSync Announces New Feature: Airdrop Coming?

ZkSync developer has released Toolkit for creating Ethereum Rollups. The toolkit will make it easy for crypto developers to create fast and inexpensive Blockchain powered by zk-proof, one of the hottest technologies in the digital asset space this year.

Coming a new toolset from zkSync

cryptocoin.com As we reported, MatterLabs, the company behind the zkSync Era Blockchain, has released a toolkit. This kit will help Blockchain developers easily build networks backed by zero-knowledge (ZK) proofs. The software development toolkit (SDK), introduced by Matter Labs and called ZK Stack, will allow developers to create new “hyper-blockchains” based on zkSync Era’s codebase. Anthony Rose, senior vice president of technology at Matter Labs, said:

The idea is to have this ready-to-use toolkit for people to deploy hyper Blockchains. Also, being able to build this network where we have these connected permissionless systems, what we think of as the internet of value of the future, where you can start scaling Ethereum.

Airdrop expectation increases with new kits

With ZK Stack, Matter Labs joins Optimism and Arbitrum among the Ethereum rollup teams working to democratize access to its technology in keeping with crypto’s clear ethos. Anthony Rose said, “The motivation for this is non-commercial. The vision of the system has always been for us to be one of many contributors,” he says. But the move, viewed through a commercial lens, could be seen as a way to help Matter Labs attract more developers to the zkSync Era ecosystem.

Meanwhile, the project using ZK-Rollup technology is developing rapidly. zkSync’s TVL has now reached $625 million. The TVL amount reflects the active usage status of the network. This supports the expectation of airdrops with new kits.

ZkSync vs. Optimism: The ZK-Proof race heats up

ZkSync and Optimism are Tier-2 scaling solutions using optimistic-rollup technology. Both aim to increase transaction volume and reduce fees for Ethereum. However, there are some differences between the two that set them apart. One of the main differences is their approach to evidence of fraud. Optimism uses proofs of fraud, which is essentially a challenge to data sent to rollups to keep the system secure. However, proofs of fraud require a significant amount of computation. It also leads to longer wait times for users.

ZkSync

In contrast, ZkSync uses zero-knowledge proofs to validate data sent to rollups. This results in faster transaction times and lower fees. ZkSync’s use of zk-proof also allows it to support privacy-preserving operations, which Optimism currently does not offer.

Another difference between the two is that they can work together with the Ethereum network. Optimism requires users to wait a week for their funds to be withdrawn from recovery. However, ZkSync does allow instant withdrawals. This makes ZkSync more suitable for situations that require almost instant liquidity, such as trading. From an adoption point of view, both platforms are gaining traction. Many famous projects like Gitcoin, Loopring and Immutable X use ZkSync. Uniswap, Synthetix and other popular DeFi protocols have adopted Optimism.
