YouTube tests screen lock feature

YouTube is working on a new lock screen feature to prevent accidental taps while watching videos on a smartphone or tablet. This innovation, which will lock the video player, will not fast forward or rewind the video if you touch the screen. However, it is said that it will only be offered to Premium subscribers in the first stage.

How to use YouTube screen lock feature?

YouTube’s new Lock Screen featuredisables touch during video playback. Thus, users will be able to continue watching the video in case they accidentally touch the screen and the video experience will not be interrupted.

This feature, which is still in the testing phase, will also make it easier to watch videos from a smartphone or tablet. But for now, it’s only available to certain YouTube Premium users. It’s worth noting that it’s been tested on both Android and iOS apps.

Screenshots from users in the testing phase revealed that the Lock Screen feature works quite simply. This feature, which can be used with an icon that will appear in YouTube’s video player, will disable screen movements.

A similar Lock Screen feature on YouTube is available in Netflix’s Android and iOS apps. In this way, watching long-term series and movies on a smartphone or tablet is no longer torture.

On the other hand, YouTube is determined to take a more aggressive approach to prevent viewers from using ad blockers while watching videos on the platform. Users share that viewers will receive a warning message. This warning message forces the ad blocker to be turned off after three videos.
