Berlin The Russian aluminum and electricity company owner Oleg Deripaska introduced his speech at the Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum on Thursday, saying he had been asked not to say those words. But he is for peace.

The Ukraine war is giving Russia a “toughest” crisis lasting at least three years, said Deripaska, head of the combined company Rusal and En+ Group: “We have not yet been confronted with such challenges. The Iron Curtain has already fallen.” In three weeks it will become clear what will finally happen to the banks and “who will be left of our partners”.

He believes that you can then “count them on the fingers of one hand”. The controversial oligarch described the extent of the economic crisis threatening Russia as follows: “Take the crisis of ’98 and multiply it by three.” In 1998 Russia had to file for insolvency. Deripaska calls the current war “madness”.
