etherum, wither and Wormhole, the popular blockchain bridge connecting more chains, has been hacked.
The project confirmed in a statement on its official Twitter account that they are investigating the hack and that the bridge is currently closed.
‼️ The wormhole network is down for maintenance as we look into a potential exploit.
📢 We will provide updates here as soon as we have them.
🙏 Thank you for your patience.

Lost Big
It is stated that the size of the attack in question is 326 million dollars.
Analysts examining on-chain movements detected 80,000 Ethereum transactions worth $ 250 million stolen, while it was determined that there were 40,000 ETH exploits on the Solana side. While the information obtained so far shows that 120,000 Ethereum was stolen, the eyes were turned to the official statement from the Wormhole team.
The team recently stated that they will share an update on the latest situation.
$10 Million Prize
Paradigm security researcher “samczsun” stated in his latest post that the Wormhole team reached the address of the exploiter on the Ethereum network and offered a $10 million reward for returning the funds.
Caused Panic
The hack in question DeFi It caused a panic in their circle. Because cross-blockchain bridges lock ETH into the contract, issuing a parallel asset on the bridged chain.
It remains unclear what the consequences will be for Solana and other lending protocols if Wormhole-issued ETH fails to connect back to the Ethereum main chain.
Vitalik Buterin published an article in January on the risks of cross bridges.
My argument for why the future will be *multi-chain*, but it will not be *cross-chain*: there are fundamental limits to the security of bridges that hop across multiple “zones of sovereignty”. From https://t.co/3g1GUvuA3A: pic.twitter.com/tEYz8vb59b
