Sharm el Sheikh, Berlin A failure of the world climate conference in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, was prevented. However, the final declaration, on which almost 200 states agreed early Sunday morning, fell short of expectations.

Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (Greens) said at the end of the conference that it was “more than frustrating” that due to “the blockade by some large emitters and oil-producing countries, overdue steps to reduce and phase out fossil fuels were prevented”.
