In today’s issue of the Official Gazette, Presidency of the Constitutional Court took an important decision. Within the scope of the decision numbered 2023/38, it was ruled that the article of law preventing women from using only their surnames after marriage was cancelled. In other words, even if women get married after that, they cannot take their husbands’ surnames. their surnames they can use.

According to Article 187 of the Turkish Civil Code, women can automatically They took their husbands’ surnames.
