Munich The direct bank ING established call money in Germany at the time and also sets the direction for the level of interest for daily savings accounts. It currently offers three percent.
But even with this top interest rate, inflation cannot be compensated for. Most recently, the inflation rate in Germany was still over seven percent – in real terms, call money savers are losing money. In concrete terms: 1,000 euros will become 1,030 euros within a year at an interest rate of three percent, but they only have a purchasing power of 960 euros.
