Will the Olympic Games bring new impetus?

Dusseldorf While the western stock market celebrated one record high after the next, the leading indices in China slipped by up to 20 percent last year. This year, however, the country wants to celebrate success again – not only on the stock exchange, but recently also as a winter sports nation.

The Beijing Olympics begin on Friday, and for President Xi Jinping, this event is a great opportunity to show strength. Can the Olympics boost the Chinese economy – and thus also get the stock market up again? What are the biggest risks for the economy in the country? And where are there opportunities for investors?
