Dortmund The location could hardly be more prestigious. Stahlwerkstraße in Dortmund, on the site of the former Westfalenhütte, a stone’s throw from Borsigplatz.

Where Hoesch AG has been producing and selling steel on a large scale for decades, the excavators will soon be rolling up. The real estate developer BPD will build 800 apartments here in cooperation with Immowerk by 2030. Cost point: up to 250 million euros.

The Karlsquartier in the north of the city center is one of the largest real estate projects in Dortmund in recent years. It symbolizes a real estate policy approach that connects the region’s past and present: the city in the Ruhr area is growing again – and urgently needs new living space.

Among other things, large industrial areas of the past are giving way to new, urban residential areas, which are intended to shape not only the cityscape but also the reputation.
