Dusseldorf The German gas storage facilities are better filled than previously assumed. “If the currently strong consumption savings continue, Germany will get through the winter well,” said Sebastian Bleschke, Managing Director of the Ines storage association, on Friday.
Just a few weeks ago, the association had assumed higher consumption in its forecasts. The fact that less gas is now being used is not due to the milder temperatures, said Bleschke. The consumption is actually lower than usual in comparable weather conditions.
Despite the recent cold temperatures, the storage level is still 95 percent. At the end of November, the figure was 98 percent. That’s two percentage points more than Ines expected. The association derives even more optimistic scenarios for this winter from the current observations.
A lack of gas cannot be ruled out
