Why Biden and Trump are the only alternatives

Washington The contrast between Joe Biden and Donald Trump could not be greater. President Biden plans to deliver a speech on economic policy on Thursday. His predecessor Trump, on the other hand, is preparing for the next trial, this time in connection with the storming of the Capitol.

Both men stand for the increasingly divergent camps in the United States – and both could soon face each other again as presidential candidates. Because there are many indications that the 2020 election campaign will be repeated, when Biden and Trump were already fighting for the White House.

“It’s the presidential election that almost nobody seems to want,” writes political scientist Craig Gilbert, who teaches at Marquette University Law School. “Three-fourths of voters don’t want Joe Biden running for re-election. Two-thirds of voters don’t want Donald Trump to run. And almost half of all voters want neither of them to run,” explains Gilbert.
