About the European market, they stated that they will proceed step by step and are not in a hurry. They emphasized that the European market is challenging and that the right steps should be taken.
Regarding the problems they may encounter in Europe, they stated that Europe is a competitive market. Noting that they are trying to be inspired by German manufacturers, they cited Audi and Volkswagen as an example.
Chery officials, who said that they use the slogan “In China, for China” in China, expressed that they might use a slogan for Turkey and Europe one day. They have not disclosed the size of the investment for now, but stated that the models to be produced here could cover 15 percent of their sales.
Chery is currently selling 3 models in Turkey. In the near future, besides the sedan model Arizzo 8, the electric Omoda 5 and Jetour models will also take their place in the Turkish market. In addition, the Tiggo 5 will also be launched in the B segment.
There is no planning yet as to whether Exeed, the company’s representative in the premium segment, will come to Turkey. However, they primarily aim to increase their market share in Turkey to 7 percent. After achieving this goal, they plan to lay a strong foundation for the marketing of Exeed.
The company does not intend to make models such as Omoda or Tiggo different brands. However, it may be possible to consider this option if model families grow. In particular, the demand for a specific product line can help them brand it.
Chery makes different plans for the production location for the European market, and Turkey is at the center of these plans. However, they state that they need a strong market share for investment. They add that they think Turkey, where other manufacturers in the region also produce, is a very good option for investment.
