Munich The end of working life is one of the deepest turning points in life for most people. For many, the idea of never having to work again sounds like heaven at first. But after the initial euphoria, the question arises as to how the days that were previously determined by the job can be filled.
“It is not least this thought that ensures that many people continue to work after retirement,” says Uwe-Matthias Müller from the federal association Initiative 50plus. He divides the “non-retirees” into two groups: some have to keep working in order to be able to afford to live in old age. The others continue in order to have a meaningful occupation.
According to Müller, both of them are still given too little attention: “Politicians, but also companies, have not yet really recognized that our society is aging.” Müller is committed to ensuring that the value of older workers is recognized more strongly.
