Why 2023 could be “poison for the stock markets”.

Dusseldorf New year, old problems: inflation remains high. Interest rates will continue to rise for the time being. The prospects for the economy are still characterized by recession concerns. 2023 will not be an easy year. Economists largely agree on that.

But what does this mean for the markets? Where are the stock markets headed after their brilliant start to the year? Do investors have reason to be nervous? This is discussed in the current episode of Handelsblatt Today Extended by Handelsblatt financial market analyst Ulf Sommer.

In an interview with host Lena Jesberg, he gives his very personal assessment of the current year. “I believe that the stock exchanges underestimate the risk of rising interest rates due to the still high inflation,” says the market expert.
