Whistleblower: More protection for whistleblowers

Berlin It doesn’t matter whether it’s fraud, corruption or other violations: those who report abuses in their company should be better protected in the future. The Bundestag passed a corresponding law. Accordingly, whistleblowers must not be disadvantaged – and if they do, they can claim damages.

The new regulation is based on an EU directive and should have been implemented into national law by December 17, 2021. However, the previous government of Union and SPD could not agree. Now the traffic light has moved.

What exactly is changing for companies and whistleblowers? When does the law come into force? Who can whistleblowers contact? The Handelsblatt obtained answers to these questions from the employment lawyers Pascal Croset from the Berlin law firm Croset and Michael Demuth from the law firm Rose & Partner in Hamburg.
