What’s Happening to the Solana Network? Developers Worried!

wither Foundation published a report on network problems that started last Saturday and lasted quite a long time. According to the report, the network experienced another outage in addition to the known outages. The reason for this interruption is thought to have occurred during the upgrade from 1.13 to 1.14.

Solana Status posted a post on February 27. tweet and published a report to provide information on the reasons for the interruption on February 25th. While the root cause of the outage is still unknown, the team continues to actively investigate to find the exact cause.

According to the report, the Solana mainnet beta suffered a significant drop in performance on February 25. The validators took charge and restarted the chain with the previous upgrade, returning to normal connecting Saturday to Sunday.

Solana was down for more than 20 hours without a single successful transaction. The validator nodes automatically entered vote-only mode, a ‘safe mode’ designed to help the network recover if data is unavailable.

The validators agreed with the developers to simultaneously downgrade to the previous stable version, v1.13.6, to reduce the risk of reboots. It was decided to rollback on the second reboot attempt, as the developers canceled the first reboot attempt to gather more data about the outage.

Outages in the Solana Network Are Unstoppable!

Koinfinans.com As we reported, the Solana blockchain has experienced many outages in the last 2 years. The most important reason pointed out by the experts is the design at the base of the system. According to this design, all consensus is carried out on-chain. This means that all validator communications occur on-chain, just like a transaction. This leads to a large increase in TPS as well as transaction volume.
