What top managers in Germany can earn

Berlin Good news for top managers with digital expertise: Despite the generally sluggish economic situation in Germany, salaries in top management have risen. Instead of around 300,000 euros as in 2021, company leaders currently earn an average of 319,000 euros – around six percent more. This is shown by a survey by the personnel consultancy I-Potentials, which the Handelsblatt has received in advance.

“Salaries at the C-level have risen relatively constantly in recent years, especially in the group of managers who bring transformation and digital expertise to the table,” says Martina van Hettinga, Managing Partner at I-Potentials. She occupies top positions for clients such as Adidas and Daimler.

In view of the current challenges – the Ukraine war, inflation, stressed supply chains – there is an increasing demand for talented people who can lead a company safely through crises, says van Hettinga. At the same time, it is becoming increasingly difficult for companies to fill their top positions well. This is reflected in the already lavish executive salaries.
