Dusseldorf When the corona virus spread in Germany at the beginning of 2020 and shops were threatened with the first restrictions, Albrecht Hornbach reacted quickly. In uncertain times, the owner of the hardware store chain gave his branch employees free rein to develop effective hygiene measures. Sales could continue almost unhindered, and sales increased.

The success was also reflected on the stock exchange. Hornbach Holding shares rose from EUR 35 during the crash in March 2020 to a peak of almost EUR 100 in October 2020. Despite a recent profit warning, the price today is around EUR 74, more than twice as high as at the beginning of the crisis.
