Berlin Constanze Jäger is the “Employee Happiness Manager” at the Municipal Clinic in Braunschweig. The hospital has been the only healthcare company in Germany to have created such an item for around a year. The idea behind it: Employees who can hand over private errands or problems are also happier at work.

Jäger’s area of ​​responsibility is as varied as it is tricky: she organizes day care places, apartments, birthday parties – or just listens. The services of the 42-year-old are in high demand in the hospital: some days her phone rings without a break.

In addition, she receives dozens of inquiries by e-mail every day and never knows where her working day will take her: Sometimes she visits a day care center where she has organized a place for the child of a new senior physician, sometimes she keeps on the phone until she finds a suitable offer for found short-term care for a relative of an employee.
