The new favorite of entrepreneurs: Cloud computing!

While the dynamism of developments in technology increases day by day, investments in cloud computing have become the focus of attention of the entrepreneurial ecosystem. Domestic investments in cloud computing, which is strategic in terms of data security, have increased their attractiveness with the contributions of the public.

Halil Sarıbaş, a businessman and TÜBİTAK Ulakbim Board member who stands out with his investments in the technology sector, stated that companies or institutions that have a sustainable corporate structure or aim to do so have started to allocate serious budgets to cloud technology, and this has led to entrepreneurs turning to this field.

The rapid growth of the IT sector also affects companies’ corporate investment models. Cloud-based technologies (Cloud), where data and transactions are hosted on remote servers rather than on a local device, in addition to ensuring data security; It offers opportunities such as backup, easy accessibility and reducing resource waste.

Cloud technology, in which companies and institutions increase their investments, also has a significant purchasing potential for individuals. Data security, which has been a controversial issue in recent years, has increased the importance of domestic investments in cloud technology.

Halil Sarıbaş, an Electronics and Communication Engineer, continues to invest in the technology sector with over thirty years of experience. Sarıbaş, one of Turkey’s leading cloud entrepreneurs, evaluated cloud technology, which has become a priority need of companies and institutions in terms of data security and preservation of transactions.

Stating that cloud computing in Turkey is a rapidly developing sector in the field of information technologies and that the entrepreneurial ecosystem is not indifferent to the demand, Sarıbaş said, according to the research conducted by Citrix, 1 out of every 4 organizations in our country invests in cloud computing and 23% of their IT budgets. He stated that he used it for cloud services.

He stated that 34% of organizations in Turkey have purchased a cloud service and that the most commonly used cloud services are e-mail with 70%, data backup with 44% and virtualization with 18%. He emphasized that the state has adopted policies that support digital transformation and that encouraging cloud computing, which is an important catalyst in digital transformation, and establishing a regulatory framework contribute to the growth of the sector.

He stated that cloud computing companies providing services from established data centers contribute to the development of the sector by offering solutions for local needs to meet the needs of institutions and organizations that have to keep their data domestically, in accordance with the BRSA, Presidential Digital Transformation Office Information and Communication Security Guide and Personal Data Protection Board regulations. .

Stating that companies, institutions and individuals are switching to the cloud to benefit from the high security, flexibility, scalability and cost advantages offered by cloud computing, Halil Sarıbaş listed the benefits provided by cloud technology.

He stated that using cloud-based systems eliminates traditional infrastructure costs such as purchasing, installing and maintaining physical servers, allowing users to pay only for the resources they use, thus better controlling costs.

He emphasized that cloud technology, which offers the opportunity to quickly increase or decrease resources according to need and usage, can be accessed from any device with an internet connection, making it easier for users to work remotely, making business processes more flexible and allowing global business opportunities.

In cloud-based technologies, it is easier to automatically backup data and protect against disaster situations, cloud providers generally offer data backup and disaster recovery services together with all services, facilitate data sharing and collaboration between different users, the opportunity to share and edit documents and projects online. It provides faster adoption of innovative solutions by making it easier to quickly deploy and update applications and services, and provides strong security measures and state-of-the-art cybersecurity services to protect data.

He stated that data centers are protected by advanced physical security measures due to their structure, that cloud-based technologies use data centers more efficiently and reduce energy and resource consumption, and that cloud providers undertake infrastructure updates and maintenance so that users do not have to deal with such responsibilities.

Stating that cloud computing has an important position in terms of sustainability criteria accepted by consensus by the United Nations, Sarıbaş stated that cloud computing is concentrated in large data centers and that these centers use energy more efficiently due to their structure.

He stated that many cloud providers are trying to reduce their environmental impact by switching to renewable energy sources, that businesses are optimizing their energy consumption and making their data center infrastructure more efficient, and that many data centers today contribute to sustainability by using renewable energy sources such as solar energy and wind energy.

He emphasized that cloud computing provides a scalable service according to need, prevents unnecessary capacity and reduces the waste of resources, allowing businesses to increase or decrease resource usage according to demand. He stated that cloud computing accelerates the digital transformation processes of businesses and enables them to adopt more efficient and environmentally friendly practices by helping them develop innovative solutions.

However, he also stated that the energy consumption and cooling needs of large data centers may lead to environmental impacts, adding that continuous improvements and efforts are required at both technological and policy levels for cloud computing to contribute to sustainability.
