Frankfurt Employees pay wage tax on their salary every month. In most cases, however, this advance payment is too high, because taxpayers have numerous expenses over the year that the tax office recognizes as tax-reducing.
According to the latest available data from the Federal Statistical Office, of the 14 million people who submitted a tax return in 2018, almost 13 million were able to enjoy a tax refund of an average of 1072 euros. Only a good 1.5 million had to pay back taxes.
Anyone who was away on business, received further training, cared for a relative or had health treatments in 2022 can partially deduct this from their taxes. There are four main ways to reduce the tax burden.
