Using the sensing technology used in Dyson air purifiers, the Dyson Backpack can collect air pollution data on the go. The backpack aims to investigate this issue by measuring personal air pollution level with built-in sensors, battery pack and GPS features.

Dyson engineers match the weather sensor and GPS data in the backpack with Samet’s daily activities to gather information on the level of air pollution.

In line with this information, we identified the sources of air pollution that ShiftDelete.Net editor Samet encountered. The results revealed that entering crowded environments, walking on busy streets, traveling on public transport and especially driving caused a spike in pollutants such as PM2.5, VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) and NO2 (Nitrogen Dioxide).
