Tuzla Mayor Dr. Şadi Yazıcı invests in science and technology to make Tuzla a smart city. One of the most important concrete examples of Yazıcı’s vision is the Technopark Center (Tekmer). Founded by a municipality for the first time in Turkey, Tekmer offers office facilities, a network environment and material and moral support to support entrepreneurs and start-ups. The goal is to extract unicorns from Tuzla.
Yazıcı, who also attaches importance to renewable energy, wants to make Tuzla a carbon neutral district. For this reason, investments are made in renewable energy sources such as solar panels and wind turbines. Yazıcı said, “Tekmer is a very important project for the future of Tuzla and Turkey. We want to turn Tuzla into an innovation center by supporting our entrepreneurs and start-ups. I believe that a unicorn will emerge from Tekmer.” said.
