iOS 15.4, which opens Face ID with a mask, has been released: Here’s what’s new

Apple rolled out the iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 software updates. Here are all the innovations that come with iOS 15.4 and iPad 15.4.

What has changed with watchOS 8.5?

With the watchOS 8.5 update, a new feature has been introduced that will make it easier for users to update and restore Apple Watch devices. At this point, an Apple Watch running watchOS 8.5 can be updated by bringing it closer to an iPhone using iOS 15.4.

The Apple Watch will display an animation prompting users to zoom in on an iPhone model running iOS 15.4 or later if something like an update occurs. Double-clicking the side button of the watch that needs to be connected to the charger for the update and following the necessary steps on the iPhone will start the process.

If you see an animation showing a watch and iPhone being brought closer together on your Apple Watch with watchOS 8.5 or later, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure you have an iPhone nearby. iPhone must have iOS 15.4 or later, have Bluetooth turned on, connect to Wi-Fi, and be unlocked.
  2. Connect your Apple Watch to its charger.
  3. Double-click the side button on your Apple Watch.
  4. Follow the steps that appear on the iPhone.

Other innovations that come with watchOS 8.5 are as follows;

  • Ability to authenticate Apple TV purchases and subscriptions.
  • COVID-19 vaccine cards in Wallet now support the EU Digital COVID Certificate format.
  • Updates to irregular rhythm notifications designed to improve atrial fibrillation detection. Available in the USA, Chile, Hong Kong, South Africa, and more.
