Dusseldorf Shortly before the factory holidays, there is no holiday mood at Volkswagen. This was shown at the beginning of the week at the management information (MMI) – a digital meeting of the global managers of the Dax group.

For a good hour, VW’s top management around brand boss Thomas Schäfer told the approximately 2,000 managers who had switched on how serious the situation at Germany’s largest car manufacturer was. According to participants, the 53-year-old warned in a fire speech in English that “The roof is on fire”. First, the “Manager Magazin” reported about it.

It also said: “The future of the VW brand is at stake.” It would be “very hard” for the company in the next few weeks and months. The environment in which VW finds itself is “no less than a perfect storm”.
