austin In view of the Ukraine war, Volkswagen wants to strengthen other growth markets outside of Europe, above all the USA. “We have to position ourselves even more broadly worldwide,” said VW boss Herbert Diess in an interview with the Handelsblatt. The market share in the USA should increase from four to ten percent.
The electric SUV ID.4 and the newly introduced electric bus ID.Buzz should help, but also other models. These could be produced at the US plant in Chattanooga. “Since we have invested in the basic technology for e-car production in Chattanooga, we are of course considering which model we will still produce there,” said Diess.
