Van Laack boss took advantage of the opportunities in the pandemic

Moenchengladbach Van Laack owner Christian von Daniels is in top form in times of crisis. He more than tripled the luxury shirt maker’s sales by selling cloth masks, fleece gowns and corona self-tests while the apparel industry was otherwise down. With the corona self-tests alone, they would have made a seven-figure profit, says von Daniels in an interview with the Handelsblatt.

“In a state of emergency, you have to seize opportunities and rethink things,” says the entrepreneur. So last year he even made additional purchases by taking over the textile chain store Sør. He also runs a hotel and two restaurants with what was once the youngest star chef, Philipp Eberhard, one of which caters to the Borussia Mönchengladbach players every day.
