US stock markets are in the red – Disney shares jump up

Frankfurt Investors in the USA start the new stock market week with price losses. The leading US indices Dow Jones and S&P are 0.3 and 0.6 percent weaker at 33,642 and 3938 points in New York morning trading on Monday. The technology-heavy Nasdaq index loses one percent to 11,025 points.

The renewed increase in corona numbers in China is causing uncertainty. “There is real concern about the impact of the Chinese economy on the US economy,” said Hugh Johnson, chief economist at Hugh Johnson Economics. Beijing’s most populous district on Monday urged residents to stay at home as the number of corona cases in the city rose. In the port city of Guangzhou, a district was cordoned off for five days.
