Washington One of the most important think tanks in Washington recently founded a “Center for Europe and Eurasia”. This shows the new importance of transatlantic relations in times of the Ukraine war. The center has been at the conservative think tank Hudson Institute since December, headed by Peter Rough.
The security expert with Austrian roots worked as a strategist in George W. Bush’s White House and was research director in the ex-president’s office, among other things he supported him in writing his memoirs.
Rough sees the global leadership role of the USA being called upon more than ever: “The war in Ukraine shows that there will be no strategic autonomy for Europe,” he says in an interview with the Handelsblatt.
