Ukraine became the target of cyber attacks after the Russian crisis!

A series of cyberattacks were launched on the websites of Ukrainian banks and defense institutions on Tuesday. Due to the ongoing Russian crisis, eyes were first turned to the Russian side and then to the US side. But both sides remained silent. Here are the details…

Ukraine fights cyberattacks

Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense shared on Twitter on Tuesday that its website was most likely affected by a denial-of-service attack, a primitive type of attack that overloaded its server with traffic and caused it to crash.

In addition, Ukraine’s Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security similarly confirmed attacks on state-owned Privatbank and Oshchadbank, two of the country’s largest financial institutions. In addition, the website of the Ukrainian Armed Forces appears to have been hacked.

Netblocks, which oversees internet flow for network outages, said that Ukrainian banks and military institutions are currently experiencing a severe drop in connectivity, caused by a similar DoS attack. Also, the data shows the effect intensifying throughout the day, starting early Tuesday.

Journalists working in Ukraine also confirmed that connectivity problems affect even ordinary citizens. Buzzfeed reporter Christopher Miller on Tuesday made the following statement on the subject:

Currently in Ukraine hackers are attacking the state-owned Privatbank & Oschadbank and the Ministry of Defense. ATMs and banking services were interrupted. MOD and Armed Forces websites not working. Approved by the Government’s Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security of Ukraine

In the past period, we have seen that such cyber-attacks occur especially after the crisis with Russia and lead to this. Although many say that these and similar situations set the stage for a possible invasion, this is not the first time Ukraine has faced such a situation.
