Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi in an interview with Bloomberg bitcoin and cryptocurrencies made important statements about
Khosrowshahi: “One Day We Will Accept Payments In Bitcoin And Cryptocurrencies Although Not Now”
Answering host Emily Chang’s questions, Khosrowshahi answered the question of whether the increasing cryptocurrencies and Metaverse issues recently convinced him to take payments with Uber in Bitcoin:
“One day we will accept payments in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. We talk about this constantly within the company.”
Evaluating cryptocurrencies in general, Khosrowshahi said:
“We consider Bitcoin and some other cryptocurrencies to be extremely valuable as a means of accumulation of value.”
“Reducing Transaction Fees and Addressing Environmental Concerns”
The famous CEO also mentioned the expensiveness of trading with cryptocurrencies:
“The trading mechanisms of cryptocurrencies are quite expensive. Therefore, they are not a good enough tool to be used to make instant payments. In addition, there are some environmental concerns regarding Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. If the amounts paid to transact become cheaper and less harmful to the environment, you can be sure that we will attract more attention to the cryptocurrency sector.”
Khosrowshahi stated that they are content with following cryptocurrencies closely at the moment:
“If you ask if Uber will accept cryptocurrencies as payment in the future, my answer will one day be. However, the time zone we are in right now is not suitable for this. Surely one day we will accept cryptocurrencies as payment.”
