Twitter Blue subscribers will be given the Official tag

Elon Musk recently announced that a Twitter Blue subscription will be mandatory for blue ticks. Taking a step back in this regard, Twitter announced that users who purchased the Blue service will include the “Official” tag in their profile.

Twitter Blue subscribers who meet the requirements will be given the Official tag

Esther Crawford, Twitter’s director of product management, announced that the social media company will roll out this new verification feature to certain accounts. Accounts with a blue tick will have an “Official” label to indicate they have been verified. It is estimated that the same tag will be given to new accounts that pass the platform’s verification process.

Crawford stated that they will only give the new label to people who meet certain conditions. Twitter Blue subscribers will not be able to get the Official hashtag unless they meet the qualifications, even if they get a blue tick.

Crawford explained that the new status will only be granted to “government accounts, commercial companies, business partners, major media outlets, broadcasters and certain public figures.” According to The New York Times, Twitter will officially roll out the $8 Blue subscription on Wednesday, after it was supposedly delayed due to the midterm elections in the United States.

Twitter will increase the monthly fee for its Blue service from $4.99 to $8 per month. The company, which came to the fore with the second price increase in the last three months, was criticized by some users.
