With the investments made by Turkey in the field of Defense Industry, its budget is gradually increasing. Here, on the other hand, the main factor behind the change is that the products imported under the scope of indigenization are able to be produced by Turkish companies day by day.
In other words, to give a simple example, instead of purchasing Harpoon missiles from the USA, its domestic counterpart, Atmaca, is being made. Moreover, tens or even hundreds of companies can work on just one product. Of course, it also depends on how complicated it is. In this direction, the project volume of this year was shared.
Turkey’s Defense Industry budget has exceeded 1 Trillion TL!
It should be noted that only the amount that comes out of the state’s coffers is not shared within the announced Defense Industry budget of Turkey. Because there are hundreds of companies that carry out the R&D work of a ship, aircraft, weapon and engine-like products with their own resources.
However, it is stated that 20 years ago, Turkey was working on more than 60 projects, while it is currently working on more than 750 projects. Therefore, the budget has increased from 5.5 billion dollars to 60 billion dollars in direct proportion to this. Of course, since domestic production is in question, if we calculate this in TL, there is an amount exceeding 1 trillion TL.
Great interest from NATO to Bayraktar Kızılelma!
NATO officials, who visited Baykar today, examined Bayraktar Kızılelma and other SİHA and TİHA models.
This amount includes unmanned aerial vehicles, domestic warplanes, helicopters, tanks, howitzers, armored vehicles, ships, submarines, missiles, rockets, air defense systems, satellites, rifles and even chips and transistors that will be in electronic devices.
Moreover, we are not talking about the profits of a few companies. Exactly 1,500 different companies (including the public and private sector) have this amount of work. In addition, we can see that the new ship and aircraft projects have doubled in the coming years with the acceleration.
Making a statement on the subject, Defense Industry President İsmail Demir said:
While working on 62 projects with a volume of 5.5 billion dollars in 2002, today we are working on 750 projects with a project volume exceeding 60 billion dollars. Today, more than 1500 companies operate in the defense industry sector, where 56 companies were active in 2002.
